Cianjur, June 13, 2026 – The Rector of the Institut Teknologi Kalimantan (ITK), Prof. Dr. Agus Rubiyanto, attended the 3rd Congress of the Indonesian Professors Association (API) 2026, held from June 12–14, 2026, at UG Techno Park. Conducted in a hybrid format, the congress carried the theme: “Enhancing the Strategic Role of Professors in Upholding Academic Integrity and Realizing Sustainable National Food and Energy Security.”
The API Congress 2026 served as a national platform bringing together professors, academics, government representatives, and stakeholders to discuss the contribution of higher education institutions in addressing national development challenges, particularly in the areas of food security, energy resilience, and academic integrity.
The participation of the ITK Rector reflects the university’s commitment to supporting the transformation agenda of Impactful Higher Education, Science, and Technology (Dikti Saintek Berdampak), which encourages universities not only to excel in education and research but also to create tangible benefits for society, industry, government, and the environment.
Throughout the congress and national seminar sessions, participants emphasized the critical role of professors as drivers of innovation, producers of evidence-based policy recommendations, and guardians of academic integrity amid rapid technological transformation and national development. Discussions covered sustainable food security strategies, the national energy research roadmap, and the strengthening of governance within academic professional organizations.
Prof. Agus Rubiyanto stated that the spirit promoted during the API Congress aligns closely with ITK’s vision as a technological university contributing directly to the development of East Kalimantan and Indonesia, particularly in supporting the development of the Nusantara Capital City (IKN), natural resource downstreaming, energy transition, and innovation-driven solutions for society.
“Universities today are expected not only to produce scientific publications but also to deliver solutions that generate real and measurable benefits for society. This principle lies at the heart of the Impactful Higher Education, Science, and Technology agenda and continues to guide ITK’s efforts in education, research, innovation, and community engagement,” he said.
The congress also produced a number of strategic recommendations emphasizing stronger collaboration among universities, government institutions, industry partners, and communities to accelerate national development goals and the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In addition, the 3rd API Congress established organizational priorities for the next leadership period and reinforced the role of academics as strategic partners in evidence-based policymaking.
For ITK, participation in API Congress 2026 represents an important opportunity to expand national collaboration networks while strengthening the university’s contribution to impactful innovation. In line with the spirit of “ITK Berdampak” (Impactful ITK), the university continues to direct its education, research, and community service programs toward addressing societal needs and supporting sustainable development in Kalimantan and across Indonesia.
Through the participation of its Rector in API Congress 2026, ITK reaffirms its commitment to becoming a leading technological university that generates knowledge, technology, and innovation with meaningful impact for society, in line with the national transformation agenda of Impactful Higher Education, Science, and Technology toward a Sustainable and Advanced Indonesia.
