Balikpapan - Institut Teknologi Kalimantan (ITK), in collaboration with Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI), held a banking services and financial literacy session for ITK employees on August 10, 2026. The activity provided employees with practical insights into managing personal finances more systematically, from understanding their financial condition and managing expenses to preparing emergency funds and planning long-term investments.

The session was attended by civil servants, CPNS, and PPPK employees at Institut Teknologi Kalimantan. Among those present were Head of ITK’s Bureau of Academic and General Affairs Yuspian, S.Sos., M.I.R., BSI Area Manager for East and North Kalimantan Andi Asni, and Sammy, BSI Area Business Officer, along with representatives from Bank Syariah Indonesia.

In his remarks, Yuspian welcomed the financial literacy session as an opportunity for ITK employees to gain a broader understanding of banking services while strengthening their ability to manage personal finances. Financial literacy is increasingly important so that income is not only used to meet current needs but is also planned to support future financial goals.

During the presentation, the BSI team discussed smart financial management strategies toward financial freedom. Participants were first encouraged to build financial self-awareness by understanding their current financial situation, recognizing spending habits, and identifying the financial goals they wish to achieve.

The next step involved conducting a financial check-up by reviewing assets and liabilities, income and expenses, as well as personal cash flow. Based on this assessment, individuals can begin building stronger financial foundations through budgeting, emergency funds, responsible debt management, and financial protection.

One of the key messages highlighted during the session was the importance of “setting money aside, rather than waiting for what is left.” Saving and investing should ideally become part of financial planning as soon as income is received, rather than being done only when there is money remaining after all expenses have been paid.

Participants also received an overview of how income can be proportionally allocated to various needs, including living expenses, debt repayments, social contributions, lifestyle spending, savings, and investments. This type of planning can help individuals understand where their income goes while maintaining a healthier balance between current needs and future financial objectives.

In addition to financial literacy, BSI introduced a number of banking services available to employees, including payroll services, banking facilities for active employees, and information related to financial planning for retirement. Participants were also given the opportunity to discuss banking services and financial needs directly with the BSI team.

Through this activity, ITK continues to promote financial literacy as part of its efforts to support employee well-being. Better financial management skills are expected to help employees make more informed financial decisions, manage obligations responsibly, and prepare for long-term needs.

The collaboration between ITK and BSI also conveyed an important message that financial well-being is not determined solely by the amount of income a person earns, but also by how consistently and wisely that income is managed. Simple habits such as tracking expenses, preparing a budget, building an emergency fund, and allocating part of one’s income for the future can become meaningful steps toward greater financial stability.

Ultimately, financial management is not merely about how much a person earns, but about how every source of income can be managed wisely and create long-term value. With stronger financial literacy, employees are expected to build a more secure, well-planned, and sustainable financial future.

SPECTA! For the Creator and Bumi Etam!
