Institut Teknologi Kalimantan (ITK) held one of the key events in its 10th Anniversary celebration on November 28, 2024. One of the main activities of this celebration was a talkshow themed "The Role of Youth as Information Disseminators in IKN Infrastructure: Spreading Information and Building a Positive Narrative for IKN." The event, held at the Integrated Laboratory Auditorium of ITK, aimed to explore new perspectives on the development of Indonesia's new capital city (IKN) and the role of social media in spreading information and building a positive narrative about IKN.
Through this talkshow, ITK hoped to provide deeper insights to the participants, especially on how the younger generation, particularly students and youth in general, could play an active role in disseminating accurate and constructive information about IKN. Additionally, the event aimed to utilize social media as a tool to build a narrative that supports the development of IKN, ensuring that the public receives positive and correct information about the new capital city’s progress.
The talkshow featured two distinguished speakers: Mr. Rizal Efendi, the former Mayor of Balikpapan (2011-2015), and Christian Frisky Natanael Mantiri, a social expert and representative from Gerbangtara. Both speakers brought valuable experience and knowledge that were highly relevant to the theme of the event, particularly regarding the role of youth in disseminating information about IKN through social media.
The discussion began with an overview of IKN's development, which is currently a major focus of the Indonesian government. In this context, the younger generation was seen as having a crucial role in ensuring that information about IKN is spread in an effective and accurate manner. With their skills in using technology and social media, young people have the potential to become agents of change in spreading reliable information and fostering a positive narrative about IKN.
The talkshow not only focused on presentations but also encouraged active participation from the audience. The interactive Q&A session allowed participants to ask questions and share their thoughts on the topics being discussed. At the end of the event, the moderators and speakers expressed their hopes for the younger generation to continue innovating and utilizing technology for positive purposes. They hoped that discussions like this would help young people understand the significance of their role in national development, particularly in supporting and disseminating information that promotes the progress of IKN.
The Talkshow Dies Natalis X ITK 2024 served as an important platform for the younger generation to explore their role in spreading information about the ongoing development of IKN. By leveraging social media and technology, the youth are expected to become agents of change who contribute to a positive narrative surrounding the advancement of the new capital city. The discussions led by the speakers provided a fresh perspective on how active youth participation can have a significant impact on the development of IKN and Indonesia as a whole.
