The 13th National Annual Design and Engineering Competition (LNT-RBM XIII) took place on October 2, 2024, at the Bela International Hotel in Ternate, North Maluku. Organized by the Indonesian Mechanical Engineering Cooperation Board (BKSTM), this competition provides a platform for mechanical engineering students across Indonesia to express their ideas, innovations, and creativity.

This year's theme focused on "Mobility Aids for the Elderly," aiming to enhance the quality of life for seniors through innovative technology. Acknowledging the mobility challenges often faced by the elderly, participants were tasked with creating solutions that are both functional and economically viable for mass production. This initiative responds to the urgent needs of a rapidly aging population.

Participants began by submitting design proposals that outlined the concept and benefits of their mobility aids. Proposals were evaluated based on criteria such as creativity, originality, functionality, and application of mechanical engineering principles. Finalist teams presented their work to a panel of judges comprised of experts in the field of mechanical engineering.

Universitas Khairun hosted the LNT-RBM XIII, reinforcing its role in supporting technological development in Eastern Indonesia. Among the 20 finalists, the Kalimantan Institute of Technology (ITK) proudly received the "Best Design Methodology" award. The ITK delegation included Alev Putra Alfandy, Ageng Margyatno, Kelvin Febriano Wiranata Suisman, and Muhammad Rayes Attila, guided by Kholiq Deliasgarin Radyantho, S.T., M.T.

The competition also showcased innovations from other universities, such as Universitas Udayana with their "Exoskeleton 6 DOF," awarded Best Team Presenter, and Universitas Muhammadiyah Malang with their "Elderly-Friendly Hydraulic Toilet" recognized for Best Functionality.

LNT-RBM XIII serves not only as a competition but also as an opportunity for students to develop meaningful innovations. With a strong sense of social responsibility, participants are expected to create mobility aids that support the lives of the elderly and positively impact the community.
