Balikpapan – A group of students from Institut Teknologi Kalimantan (ITK), united under the LUXARA team, has carried out a community service program titled "Implementation of Solar-Powered Street Lights to Support Sustainable Village Infrastructure in RT 45, Kilometer 24, Karang Joang, North Balikpapan, East Kalimantan." The initiative demonstrates the students' commitment to providing innovative solutions for the community through the utilization of renewable energy.

The name LUXARA is derived from the words "Lux," meaning light, and "Asara," symbolizing community welfare. This philosophy reflects the team's commitment to delivering lighting solutions that not only improve infrastructure but also enhance the quality of life through sustainable technology.

By implementing solar-powered street lights, LUXARA aims to create a safer, more comfortable, and environmentally friendly neighborhood for the residents of RT 45. Solar energy was selected as a clean and sustainable alternative energy source, contributing to the reduction of dependence on fossil fuel-based energy.

More than simply providing public lighting, the project represents solar-powered street lights as a symbol of illumination, sustainability, safety, and village development. The introduction of renewable energy-based infrastructure is expected to foster a more self-reliant community while raising public awareness of the importance of environmentally friendly energy.

The program also reflects the role of university students as agents of change who integrate science and technology with the needs of society. Through close collaboration with local residents, LUXARA hopes this simple yet impactful innovation will deliver long-term benefits and inspire the development of sustainable infrastructure in other communities.

The LUXARA team is led by Moch Alfadly Ichwan, with members Felix Haryanto Siringo-ringo, Zuilina Lui, Solle Togodi, Irenatasya Nayla Putri Ayuni, Muhammad Edvin Ar Rasyid, Frederik Brayen, Marsaida Kalsum, Mochamad Surya Saputra, and Sifa Ul Jannah. Driven by a spirit of collaboration, the team is committed to developing innovations that create a positive impact on society while supporting the realization of sustainable village development.
