Balikpapan – Institut Teknologi Kalimantan (ITK) continues to encourage its students to take advantage of various scholarship opportunities as part of their personal development and career readiness. One of these strategic opportunities comes from State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) and Industry Scholarships, which not only support educational funding but also provide access to mentoring, professional networks, and direct exposure to the world of work.

In line with the spirit of Diktisaintek Berdampak, scholarships based on collaboration with BUMN and industry are designed to ensure that higher education delivers tangible benefits, both for students and for national development.

Below are six BUMN and industry scholarships that can be utilized by ITK students:

1. Bank Indonesia (BI) Scholarship

This scholarship is aimed at high-achieving students with an interest in leadership development and social awareness. In addition to financial support, BI Scholarship recipients receive structured mentoring through capacity-building programs and national networking activities.

2. Djarum Beasiswa Plus

Djarum Beasiswa Plus is a national scholarship program that focuses on strengthening soft skills, leadership, and character development. The program provides students with opportunities to grow not only academically but also personally and professionally.

3. Indonesia Morowali Industrial Park (IMIP) Downstream Industry Scholarship

This scholarship supports the development of human resources in engineering and science fields that align with the needs of the national downstream industry. Students also gain direct insights into the industrial ecosystem and future career opportunities.

4. Lazis PT PLN Nusantara Power Scholarship

Through its zakat institution, PT PLN Nusantara Power provides educational assistance for students as part of its social responsibility in the energy sector. This scholarship also promotes values of social care and sustainability.

5. Pertamina Sobat Bumi Affirmation Scholarship

This scholarship emphasizes the development of young leaders who are concerned with environmental issues and sustainability. Recipients are encouraged to actively contribute to social and environmental initiatives.

6. Sobat Bumi Kalimantan

This program is designed to support students in the Kalimantan region so they can play an active role in regional development. In addition to financial assistance, students are encouraged to become agents of change within their communities.

Real Collaboration Between Campus and Industry

The various BUMN and industry scholarship programs available at ITK demonstrate how collaboration between universities and external partners can move forward hand in hand.
The Bank Indonesia Scholarship, for example, nurtures students to excel not only academically but also in social awareness and economic literacy.
Meanwhile, Djarum Beasiswa Plus is widely recognized as a platform for nurturing future leaders through character building and soft skills development.

On the other hand, the IMIP Downstream Industry Scholarship broadens students’ understanding of national industrial needs, particularly in the downstream sector. From the energy sector, Lazis PT PLN Nusantara Power and Pertamina Sobat Bumi Affirmation highlight the role of state-owned enterprises in preparing a generation that is conscious of sustainability and energy transition. At the same time, Sobat Bumi Kalimantan strengthens the role of local students in contributing to regional development.

Aligned with the Spirit of Diktisaintek Berdampak

Through industry-based scholarship programs, ITK students are prepared not only to graduate, but also to contribute meaningfully. This reflects the essence of Diktisaintek Berdampak: higher education must deliver real benefits for students, industry, and society.

Through these programs, students have the opportunity to engage in various follow-up activities such as internships, applied research, and collaborative projects. These experiences make the learning process more dynamic, relevant, and closely connected to real-world challenges.
