Balikpapan, August 4 2025 – Amidst the excitement of new student admissions, two names have emerged as the highest scorers on the Computer-Based Written Test (UTBK) at Institut Teknologi Kalimantan (ITK). They are Georaldo Filbert Kwan from the Department of Information Systems with a score of 696 and Widya Anisa Rahmawati from the Department of Civil Engineering with a score of 677. This achievement is a testament to their hard work and dedication in pursuing their dreams.
Georaldo Filbert Kwan, an alumnus of SMA N 3 Balikpapan, achieved the highest UTBK score thanks to his focus on Mathematical Reasoning. Georaldo, who had taken a gap year, said he prepared intensively for one month before the exam. He took private lessons and concentrated his studies on mathematics.
The UTBK test location at ITK's Building A was a silent witness to Georaldo's struggle. He admitted he was both surprised and happy to learn his results. A sense of relief also enveloped him, as he finally had a place to continue his education. His first impression of ITK was very positive; he described the campus as cool and having great facilities.
Meanwhile, Widya Anisa Rahmawati, a student from SMA N 1 Bontang, also achieved a high UTBK score, excelling in Quantitative Reasoning (QR). Widya prepared thoroughly, from self-studying and reading materials to participating in tryouts and tutoring.
Although she took the UTBK at Unmul Samarinda, Widya chose Civil Engineering at ITK for realistic considerations and her parents' wishes. When she found out her results, she was very happy and didn't expect to achieve such a high score. After visiting ITK in person, Widya judged the facilities to be complete and excellent.
It is hoped that the achievements of Georaldo and Widya will inspire other new students to excel and write their own success stories at Institut Teknologi Kalimantan.
