Balikpapan, June 11, 2025 — The Kalimantan Institute of Technology (ITK) continues to strengthen its strategic position as a leading state university in East Kalimantan by fostering relationships and holding an audience with the Balikpapan City Government. The event took place in the VIP Room of the Balikpapan City Government at 12:30 PM WITA and was directly received by the Assistant II for Economy, Development, and Public Welfare, Andi Muhammad Yusri Ramli, ST., MT., along with relevant departmental heads.

ITK was led directly by the Rector, Prof. Dr. Agus Rubiyanto, M.Eng.Sc., accompanied by the Vice Rectors, Head of the Academic and General Bureau, and the Deans of faculties. This meeting was a crucial moment for building cross-sector communication, especially in supporting the future development of ITK's campus infrastructure and accessibility.

Several strategic issues were discussed, including the plan for the procurement of ITK's main campus gate, which has now received land transfer support from the Provincial Government to the City Government. This marks an initial step towards providing more adequate access roads for the academic community and the public.

Furthermore, support for mobility was also a focus of the discussion. The Balikpapan Transportation Agency stated that ITK would be part of the considerations for the development of the public transportation network in the 2026 Transportation Network Master Plan (RIJT). Its realization is planned to begin in 2027–2028, including the development of services from BCT to ITK.

From a short-term planning perspective, several constructive suggestions emerged—including the revitalization of the access road from KM 15 as a temporary alternative, as well as the provision of pedestrian facilities and eco-friendly internal campus transportation.

This engagement demonstrates the joint commitment between ITK and the Balikpapan City Government to continuously advance higher education and sustainable urban development.
