Balikpapan, October 17–18, 2025 — Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) and Institut Teknologi Kalimantan (ITK) have established a strategic collaboration through Community Service (Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat) and Joint Research activities. This initiative reflects a strong synergy between the two universities in strengthening the ecosystem of education and research in East Kalimantan.
On Friday, October 17, 2025, the community service program took place at Al-Izzah Islamic Boarding School and the ITK Computer Laboratory, involving 50 students and 25 teachers from Al-Izzah. The training focused on the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to enhance teaching and learning activities in schools, such as creating digital learning materials, developing automated assessments, and implementing AI in creative learning approaches.
The event was officially opened at Al-Izzah Islamic Boarding School and attended by KH. Muhammad Muhlasin, Hasan Asyari, S.E., Dr. Tech. Ir. Raden Venantius Hari Ginardi, M.Sc, Hening Titi Cipaningtyas, S.Kom, M.Kom, Ridho Rahma Hariadi, S.Kom, M.Sc, Hatma Suryotrisongko, S.Kom, M.Eng, Ph.D, Irzal Ahmad Sabilla, S.Kom, M.Kom, Adi Mahmud Jaya Marindra, S.T., M.Eng, Ph.D, and Yun Tonce Kusuma Priyanto, S.T., M.T.
During the same occasion, a Cooperation Agreement (PKS) was signed between ITS and ITK at the LPPM Integrated Laboratory Meeting Room, ITK. The agreement was signed by Dr. Tech. Ir. Raden Venantius Hari Ginardi, M.Sc, Head of the Department of Information Technology at ITS, and Adi Mahmud Jaya Marindra, S.T., M.Eng, Ph.D, Dean of the Faculty of Science and Information Technology at ITK. This collaboration aims to strengthen cooperation between ITS and ITK, particularly in the fields of information technology, applied research, and technology-based community service.
On the following day, Saturday, October 18, 2025, ITS and ITK continued their joint Research and Community Service activities at Balikpapan Botanical Garden. The event was attended by Mr. Khakim Gozali, Dr. Tech. Ir. Raden Venantius Hari Ginardi, M.Sc, Irzal Ahmad Sabilla, S.Kom, M.Kom, and several other lecturers and researchers. Through this activity, the academics explored opportunities for environmental research and technology applications to support conservation, education, and community development.
This collaboration marks an important step toward transforming education and research through technology-based innovation, with long-term benefits for both the community and the environment in East Kalimantan.
