Saturday, August 17, 2024 – The commemoration of the 79th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia (RI) in the Nusantara Capital (IKN) was held solemnly and meaningfully. The event consisted of six activities featuring various elements of culture and tradition, starting from a midnight reflection to the lowering of the flag in the afternoon.
The series of events began with the Midnight Reflection, held at a national hero’s grave to honor the independence fighters. The atmosphere was solemn and emotional, reminding all attendees of the long struggle for independence.
In the morning, a Parade of the Replica of the Heritage Flag and the Proclamation Text took place at the IKN State Palace. This parade drew public attention as it featured historical symbols that recalled significant moments in Indonesia's independence history.
Following this, the Cultural Performance at the IKN State Palace Ceremony Field enlivened the atmosphere with various traditional dances and performances from different regions of Indonesia. This event served as a platform to showcase the rich cultural heritage of the Indonesian nation.
The Commemoration Ceremony of the Proclamation of Independence, the highlight of the events, was held solemnly at the IKN State Palace Ceremony Field. The ceremony was attended by various national figures, including the Rector of the Kalimantan Institute of Technology (ITK), Prof. Dr. Agus Rubiyanto, who represented East Kalimantan. Prof. Agus Rubiyanto's presence underscored East Kalimantan's crucial role in Indonesia's future development, especially with its position as the location of the Nusantara Capital.
Prof. Agus Rubiyanto and his delegation traveled from Balikpapan to IKN to attend the flag-raising ceremony. This journey symbolized East Kalimantan’s representation in the independence celebrations at Indonesia’s new government center.
Meanwhile, the Vice Rector of ITK for Non-Academic Affairs, Ir. Khakim Ghozali, attended the 79th RI anniversary ceremony in Samarinda, specifically at the Palaran Stadium. This event was also accompanied by a lion dance performance, adding to the festive atmosphere of the independence commemoration in East Kalimantan. The lion dance performance symbolized the cultural harmony present in Indonesia, particularly in East Kalimantan, known for its ethnic and cultural diversity.
The series of events held at IKN reaffirmed the government's commitment to uniting all elements of the nation through the RI anniversary commemoration. With the conclusion of the flag-lowering ceremony, this meaningful series of activities inspired a renewed spirit among the Indonesian people, especially in advancing the nation through development and progress in all fields.
