Balikpapan, October 30, 2025 - A spirit of enthusiasm and curiosity filled the Integrated Laboratory Building 2 of the Kalimantan Institute of Technology (ITK) as students from SMP Al-Iman Balikpapan visited the campus to learn more about various academic programs and technological innovations being developed there.
The students looked excited as they entered ITK’s modern laboratory complex, which serves as a hub for research and technological advancement in East Kalimantan. Through this visit, they gained firsthand experience of campus life and observed how innovation comes to life in a university setting.
The visit was divided into two groups to ensure that each participant could explore all facilities effectively. The male group started from the third floor, visiting the Smart City Lab (3D Printing), Computer Laboratory (Design and Computation), Advanced Physics Lab, Energy Lab, Food Research Center, and Flume Tank. Meanwhile, the female group began their journey at the Energy Laboratory, then continued to the Food Research Center, Smart City Lab, Computer and Advanced Physics Labs, and Flume Tank.
At each stop, students were introduced to ITK’s unique and exciting study programs, such as Engineering Physics, Civil Engineering, Information Systems, Mechanical Engineering, and Materials and Metallurgical Engineering. The guides explained how each discipline interconnects to create innovative solutions for society and the environment.
The students also learned about ITK’s main research focuses including renewable energy studies, smart city development, and sustainable food processing which play a vital role in shaping a greener and more energy-independent future.
To further broaden their knowledge, ITK representatives explained that every semester, the university hosts a “Program Study Exhibition” (Pameran Prodi) open to students from various schools, including SMP Al-Iman Balikpapan. During this event, visitors can explore student innovations, research projects, and prototype technologies developed on campus.
“The Program Study Exhibition serves as a platform to introduce the academic world and ITK students’ creations to the public. We hope that young students can see how knowledge can be turned into real solutions,” said Dewo, from ITK’s Public Relations Team.
This educational visit is expected to inspire students to keep learning, innovating, and envisioning their future from an early age. ITK stands as a living example that a university is not just a place for study, but a space for inspiration, collaboration, and the creation of a better future through science and innovation.
