Balikpapan, August 12, 2024 - The Kalimantan Institute of Technology (ITK) has once again welcomed the nation's future leaders with the admission of new students for the 2024/2025 academic year. The ceremony, held on Monday, August 12, 2024, marked the beginning of an academic journey for 1,613 newly admitted students who successfully passed the rigorous selection process from thousands of applicants.
ITK's Rector, Prof. Dr. Agus Rubiyanto, M.Eng.Sc., officially inaugurated the new students during the Senate Session, which was chaired alongside the ITK Senate. The event began with a vibrant performance by ITK students, setting a spirited and enthusiastic atmosphere before the main event commenced.
In his report, the Rector detailed the 2024 admission process, which took place from May to July 2024, through three primary selection pathways. The National Selection Based on Achievement (SNBP) admitted 601 new students, the National Selection Based on Tests (SNBT) welcomed 839 new students, and the Independent/Summit ITK pathway saw 173 new students. Additionally, 6 students from the Affirmative Higher Education (ADIK) program, representing Papua and other special 3T regions, were also admitted to ITK.
With a total of 9,243 applicants, the admission rate at ITK this year stood at 19%, meaning that one seat at ITK was contested by six applicants. This reflects the high interest and trust of the public in ITK as a leading higher education institution in Indonesia.
In his speech, ITK's Rector, Prof. Dr. Agus Rubiyanto, M.Eng.Sc., delivered an inspiring message to the new students. "Welcome to the Kalimantan Institute of Technology, where you will forge your future. This journey will not be easy, but it is here that you will learn, grow, and develop into individuals ready to face the challenges of the world. Remember, the future of the nation is in your hands. Make the most of this opportunity."
The newly admitted ITK students hail from 21 provinces across five major islands in Indonesia, namely Java, Kalimantan, Papua, Sulawesi, and Sumatra. They will pursue education in 22 study programs grouped into five faculties at ITK.
The Chairperson of SPIN ETAM, Denny Huldiansyah, S.T., M.Arch., also shared his hopes and expectations with the new students in his remarks. He reminded them that the journey they are about to embark on at ITK is the first step towards a bright future. He also encouraged the new students to foster unity and build strong character throughout their educational journey at ITK.
This admission marks a new chapter in higher education at ITK. With high spirit and dedication, it is hoped that the new students will achieve great accomplishments and contribute positively to the advancement of science and technology in Indonesia.
